40 Pint Dehumidifiers

I purchased this dehumidifier for mainly basement use, but wanted one quiet enough for use upstairs if needed. And, boy is this thing quiet. My refrigerator is louder. I also own a Fedders 45 pint unit and a Whirlpool 65 pint noise maker. The Fedders (Maytag) was the quiet champ until I purchased the Soleus Air CFM-40E. The Whirlpool removes an amazing amount of water, but can be heard UPSTAIRS when running in the basement. So it is used only when needed. The Soleus Air is so quiet I have to go down the basement stairs and visually check to see if the unit is on. Can’t say that for many dehumidifiers. My only complaint is that the fan is always on, even when it has reached the set humidity level. This prevents the short cycling the others do, on for 2 minutes off for 2 minutes or so, but I think prevents an Energy Star certification. At 2.9 amps it draws significantly less than the Fedders 5.6 amps and the Whirlpool’s 7.9 amps.

The Soleus Air works great upstairs in the spring, when it is cool but damp. The weather this week is in the 60′s but rainy, so the house is humid. Running the central air is not necessary since the house is not hot. So I use a dehumidifier, which makes the house seem less clammy. I would recommend the Soleus Air CFM-40E to anyone who is looking for a small, really quiet, relatively light, medium capacity (40 pint) dehumidifier that simply does what is supposed to do (remove water from air) with out excess noise.

SPT SD-46T Review: I actually like the dimensions of this unit and it starts right up when you plug it in. Simple to operate and move to any location in the house. It is quiet for a dehumidifier. My only real complaint is the plastic shield to direct air flow is subject to breakage. We attempted to redirect the flow and it fell off. When we attempted to put it back on, we ended up breaking the pin. Luckily the shield is more for looks than anything else and the unit works very well without it. It has got a nice additional feature of an ionizer to purify the air. We’re uncertain if this actually works but we’ve all been breathing much better since we have run this SPT dehumidifier in our home.

New Air AD-400 Review: My husband and I were in the market for a room dehumidifier and were happy to discover that they do not all have massive dials and clunky designs. We brought this to our place in Hawaii and were dazzled that it was ready to pull close to forty pints of moisture from the air in twenty-four hours. HDN455 Review: I first became aware that I required a humidifier when the condensation from my basement walls left mildewy puddles on the floor. My basement is about nine hundred sq. feet. I did a large amount of research online, and though I could not find a review for the Haier, it was regarded as having a lot of the features I was attempting to find ( 45-pint, Energy Star, Auto-Shut-off-when-full, price, etc ). I left the settings on full at first and in a single day there wasn’t any obvious water. After a couple more days there wasn’t any clear moistness. By the 3rd or 4th day, I turned the settings to standard, and the unit commenced clicking off when it reached its target humidity level. As it’s in my basement, I am not truly conscious of the noise, but it is quite a lot quieter than the air-con. If you compare it with your average box fan with 3 settings, I say it’s significantly quieter than the highest setting and a little bit louder than the medium setting. I have run it steadily since May and haven’t noticed a big difference in my electricity bills.
